PDF to text, and what it cannot do
Text mode pulls the text layer out of a PDF into a .txt file, the fastest route when you need the words rather than the layout.
No OCR: This reads a text layer; it does not perform OCR. A scanned PDF is a picture of text and will return nothing. The tool tells you when that happens.
How the browser-based converter works
It uses PDF.js to render and read PDFs, pdf-lib to assemble images into a PDF, and JSZip to bundle multi-page output, all in your browser tab. Very large PDFs at print resolution are where a phone will struggle.
What this converter does not do yet
PDF to Word, Word to PDF and PDF to Excel are not here because they cannot be done honestly in a browser. A browser-made “PDF to Word” is usually a .doc wrapper around extracted text with the formatting lost. PDF to text gives you the words directly, and proper Office conversion stays on the roadmap.
